“I have been drawing and painting since childhood, and exhibiting since 1982 in group, individual and one-woman shows. Whether painting landscapes, still-lifes, or figures, I am inspired by color and form. In painting landscapes I work from sketches, color notes, and memory. For me, painting is one way to honor and remember this awesome and beautiful world and to share what I see and feel. I try to make a composition that forms a whole, not just an arbitrary slice of scenery. I simplify the forms and contours and usually use intense colors and sharp contrasts. While the painting is a “world” in itself, I hope to convey the feeling of the landscape - the vastness of the sea or the depth of a canyon.”
