Puppet Central at Atelier Gallery and Fuse Theatre Ensemble are proud to present Kate Mura in SUBURBAN TRIBE, for three performances only, June 12th, 13th, & 14th. 

"SUBURBAN TRIBE is a one person play, a true story, portrayed through wonderful acting, and expressive masks, about how a young girl's family was helped through a heart wrenching moment by the local community after her father suffered a serious injury. With the effect of Kate's unique, hand crafted masks, she performed (or rather took the form) of eight different characters from the community who each took turn in telling the story from their individual point of views." Aira, The Penning Girl.

Ms. Mura has been invited to perform "SUBURBAN TRIBE" on the only English speaking stage of the Avignon OFF Festival in France this July. This is the last US performance before Kate leaves for Europe and is also a fundraiser for her tour.

Recommended for audiences over the age of 13 due to mature subject matter.

A Hadrosaur egg ends up in a T-Rex nest. When it hatches, the mama T-Rex tries to teach it how to be like her. But the ugly little Duck Billed dinosaur can't help but to follow its instincts.

Founded in 1995 by Jason Ropp, Dragon Theater Puppets and Princesses is an award-winning production company based in Portland, Oregon that is well-known for presenting high-quality entertainment for the whole family. Promoting love, understanding and fun though educational entertainment, Dragon Theater Puppets live for the chance to change lives and create memories that last forever.

Jason Ropp is a regular performer at Puppet Central in Atelier Gallery; St Johns very own live Puppet Theater. Puppet Central features the talents of the best puppeteers in Portland. They also teach classes for kids and offer a Summer Puppet Camp.

Penny’s adaptation of the traditional tale is a favorite with all ages! The mean and friendless Tully the Troll guards a bridge that crosses to yummy, beautiful, green pastures. The hungry three Billy Goat brothers would like to cross the bridge and eat what’s on the other side. Help them find a solution while we sing, dance and cheer them on as they try to outsmart the bully troll!  A mini-musical original by Penny's Puppet Productions!

Using the backdrop of the St Johns Bridge as the setting for the "Emerald City,"artist John Teply has created a Mural Installation inspired by Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz"; turning local St Johns residents into puppets of all the characters. Starring Sarah Anderson from Anna Bannanas as Dorothy, Tom Stubblefield of Stubblefield Painting as the Scarecrow, Serge Ouattara from Tre Bone as the Tin Man, Ken from Peninsula Station Printing as the Cowardly Lion and many more!  Come journey across the St Johns Bridge and over the rainbow to Atelier Gallery in the heart of downtown St Johns for the Opening Reception on Friday, May 29th from 4-8PM. 7315 N. A Puppet show about the history, science, invention and safety behind electricity. Topics include the Light Bulb, how batteries work, how to stay safe around electricity, our own bodies and how they use elecrical responses. Features characters like Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein and more!

What goes into the making of a puppet show? Led by Shae & John, participants taste the ingredients of a "Puppet Pop Pie": tossing out ideas, characters, conflicts and puppet superpowers to direct the action of the show. How's YOUR puppet voice?

Shae Uisna and John Teply are the ringleaders of this adventure. When they're not throwing puppets up in the air, they are the owners of Puppet Central and Atelier Gallery. John lives to draw, paint and do portraits, while Shae loves to perform, teach, and make masks and puppets.

Show Running Time: 45 min

Dictionary, Thesaurus, clue, detective, sentence, disguise, diary.

Education Activities:
See a Film Noir or black and white film, have a mystery treasure hunt, solve a puzzle or crossword. Play "I spy" and other detective games. Listen to old 1930's and 1940's jazz, blues and swing music. Study objects with a magnifying glass and tell what you found that you didn't notice bofore. Reference something in a dictionary and thesaurus.

The Plot:
Buster Charms, the sneaky thief, has been taking books without permission. The people of the town come to the clueless detective for help, but the guy just can't seem to figure it out.

Help the detective unravel the clues and solve the mystery! Will he get a clue at the library? Or will the sneaky villain get away with the crime? This interactive show takes the audience on a wild "film noir" style journey, combining black and white characters and bright red clues.

Puppets' Night Out Presents: "The Revenge of the Terrible Black Snake!"

This Saturday, Shae Uisna Puppets present, "The Revenge of the Terrible Black Snake," a puppet show the whole family will love! A timid man named Badger makes a long journey to receive his uncle's inheritance, and in the process, must confront his fears. Unexpected humor and bravery save the day and make for marvelous storytelling! Guitar accompaniment by John Daniel Teply. There will be a puppet craft activity after the show.

Shae Uisna, BA Loyola Marymount University, MA in Theatre, Portland State University. A Fulbright Scholar, Ms Uisna studied puppetry and masked performance in Indonesia. Shae Uisna's work integrates masked performance with shadows, rod puppets and slide projections.

Ms. Uisna has received fellowships from the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center to produce her work, "Songs From The Three Penny Opera"; been a touring puppeteer with Tears of Joy Puppet Theater, been a regular performer at the Oregon Country Fair; and has taught at numerous universities throughout the Pacific Northwest. She is currently the Director of Theater at Atelier Gallery in St Johns, Oregon and is the Vice President of the Columbia Association of Puppeteers.

"TRASHANALIA" at Puppet Central!

It's Trashanalia Day and the inhabitants of Trash Island are celebrating. Join King Neptune and a slew of puppet creatures including Felix the Hermit Crab, Charleston Turtle, and Scrappy the Seagull. Original songs written by Robert Randall (of Trashman and the Noise Band) accompany puppet characters created by Kelly Campbell made entirely out of re-used and recycled items. Sing along and help figure out the question of the day: "Where is away anyway?"
